A Matter of Luck is a comic story written by an unknown writer and drawn by Jack Bradbury. It features Gladstone Gander and Grimhilde.

Description[]

On Christmas Eve, a miscast spell results in Grimhilde getting cursed with fourteen years of bad luck. There are two ways to reverse the process: perform several good deeds, or find the luckiest thing around and keep in a cage nearby, permanently. Loathing the very idea of doing a good deed, Grimhilde instead abducts Gladstone Gander, the luckiest man in the world… However, this is the absolute worst time she could have chosen for doing so; the usually self-centered Gladstone was about to help children in an orphanage decorate a Christmas tree. Knowing that his luck, against Grimhilde's jinx spell, will give her a rough time if she tries to catch him, he makes a deal with her: if she lets him give the orphans a Christmas, he'll give himself over come morning. But isn't he killing two birds with one stone?

Behind the scenes[]

This story was first printed in December of 1961 in Dell Giant #53, entitled Donald Duck - Merry Christmas. It was then reprinted in Golden Press's Walt Disney Christmas Parade #91.
