Dark Mines of the Phantom Metal, entitled Topolino e le Miniere di Fantametallo' in the original Italian, is a comic story written and penciled by Casty and inked by Michelle Mazzon. It features Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Eurasia Toft, the Horde of the Violet Hare, and, in their debut, Professor Cartier, Count Zoox, Captain Boiler, the Grandmaster and the Giant of Cornwall.

Mickey Mouse, Goofy and Eurasia Toft come to Cornwall to meet Professor Cartier, a leading expert on Atlantis. Though Cartier refuses to help them, they find themselves much closer to their goal as they thought, as they once again run into operatives of the Horde of the Violet Hare (this time headed by the ruthless sailor Captain Boiler), who are exploiting a "mine" of Orichalcum that is really priceless Atlantean ruins… And how to the eccentric local Count Zoox, some Phoenicean relics, and the explosives rigged around the "mine" fit into all this?

This story was first printed in August of 2005 in Topolino #2880. It was printed in English in Mickey Mouse #323. As per the American tradition, the dialogue was not only translated, but also reworked, by Jonathan Gray.
It is the second story in Casty's "Atlantis cycle", following Shadow of the Colossus and succeeded by The Fire Eye of Atlantis.
